CASE STUDY 2: Concept Sketch by ZiwiCreates

Project Summary
The second project uses a hand-drawn architectural sketch created by ZiwiCreates (sourced from their Instagram). The original artwork captured the mood and character of a small conceptual exterior space, but lacked details such as material behavior, color, and realistic lighting.
Process
• The sketch’s shapes and proportions were transposed into a clean SketchUp model.
• Adjustments were made to maintain the artistic intent while ensuring structural plausibility in 3D.
• Imported into Lumion, the scene was developed with natural shadows, reflective materials, planting elements, and ambient lighting to match the tone of the sketch.
• Atmospheric depth—sunlight haze, reflections, surface textures—added realism without losing the charm of the hand-drawn style.
Outcome
The final render shows how SketchUp + Lumion can honor the artistic sensibility of illustrators while elevating the concept into a convincing, presentation-ready visualization. This workflow is especially effective for designers who sketch conceptually but need realistic imagery for clients or stakeholders.
