CASE STUDY 1: Concept Sketch by Kirley Architects

Project Summary
This project began with a loose architectural sketch created by Kirley Architects, illustrating an early concept for a small structure. The sketch conveyed massing, rough material intent, and general design direction, but lacked spatial depth and environmental context.

Process
• The sketch was interpreted and rebuilt in SketchUp, allowing for correct proportions, massing, and perspective alignment.
• Key architectural features from the sketch—roof planes, window placements, openings, and general form—were extracted and modeled with precision.
• The model was then brought into Lumion, where natural lighting, foliage, environmental effects, and realistic materials were applied.
• The final rendering reflects the conceptual intentions of the sketch while adding realism, scale, and atmosphere.

Outcome
This case demonstrates how even a quick architectural gesture can be transformed into a fully realized visual asset. The workflow helps architects communicate ideas with more impact—especially when early concepts need clarity or client approval.
